Chatwin Swivel Stool
There is a particular kind of stool that gets sat on more than any other in a house — the one at the kitchen island, where coffee is drunk and mail is opened and the day, however ambitious, tends to begin. The Chatwin Swivel was made with this stool in mind: round, generous, unhurried. The seat a guest, given the choice, takes first.
It belongs to our long-running Chatwin family, which began as an exercise in campaign furniture and has since drifted, over many commissions and many years, toward something more domestic. The legs are turned in the campaign idiom, the stretcher kept quiet, and the swivel mechanism is recessed into the underside of the seat so that the sitter can follow whatever has just come through the door without anyone hearing the hardware. The whole piece is meant to be lived on as much as admired — built, like the rest of the collection, to last.
